Cori Marsters

Commission

Te Arawa, Ngāti Whakaue, Te Whakatōhea

Cori is a young wood carver who hails from Rotorua in the heart of the North Island of New Zealand. An uri (descendent) of generations of carvers before him, Cori’s interest in traditional Māori art was instilled at a young age when he learnt about his lineage and rāranga (weaving). Knowing that one day he may be able to help his iwi (tribe) with his knowledge of whakairo (carving) is of great importance to Cori who wishes to be a good role model and leader for his whānau, iwi and hapū (family, tribe and sub tribe).
